Naples: San Lorenzo Maggiore & Underground Neapolis Ticket

Who This Trip Suits
The cheapest way under Naples, and the closest to the Roman city itself: a paved Roman street, its shops and the covered market, 10 metres under the church of San Lorenzo Maggiore. The ticket covers the monastery complex above, with the cloister, the Gothic chapter hall, the frescoed Sisto V hall and the museum, and the Neapolis Sotterrata below. It is rated 4.1 from 1,276 reviews.
Because of maintenance work on the complex, visits currently run as guided tours only, for a fee of 2 euros an adult and 1 euro for ages 6 to 14, paid on site. English tours leave at 11:00, 12:00, 13:15, 14:15, 15:15 and 17:00. One visitor this October wished the listing had said more clearly that you need to be at a set time; another wrote that the underground itself is modest and the guide’s stories do the work. A third, this summer, said it is not at all claustrophobic.
Practical points from the listing: open daily, last entry at 17:00; marked wheelchair accessible; the basilica itself is free; a free audio guide can be downloaded on site.
The price is from US$10 a person (checked October 2026), with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Napoli Sotterranea is across the same square; see the homepage comparison.
